Hi. I am Canna O’Carroll, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 7 years of experience in the mental health field. I have a unique personal and professional history, which has given me a diverse background and a different lens that I bring to my practice as a therapist. While this is not my first career, it is what I refer to as my “heart-centered career.”
My work is dedicated to helping individuals on their journey to finding their true authentic self and learning how to express it in a world which often feels unsafe and unforgiving. I am passionate about creating a non-judgmental safe space where people can feel comfortable exploring what healing looks like for them, in a way that helps them to feel supported, accepted, and validated.
As a trauma certified professional I work to help my clients triumph over their trauma, conquer their mental health challenges and overcome the barriers that have held them back from living fully. To do so, I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities that are tailored to the client’s individual needs, work to put them in touch with any resources which might accelerate their healing or assist them in directly addressing their barriers.
My primary focus is working with older teens and adults from a variety of different populations and backgrounds. As a member of the Veteran population, I relate to their unique challenges with mental health and community integration and always look forward to any opportunity to serve and support them.
I also am actively engaged in suicide prevention work. It is important to me to help our communities work towards putting an end to the suicide epidemic that we are facing. It is my personal and professional belief that everyone deserves to be heard, seen and valued for who they are and that no one should ever have to go it alone.
